Purported iPhone 8 SIM card trays leaked in images, hints new colour variant
NEW DELHI: Last month, alleged dummy of the upcoming Apple iPhone 8 an hands-on video. The video also showed a new 'Copper' colour along with Black and Silver colour variants. Now a tipster going by the moniker @VenyaGeskin1 has posted an image on Twitter showing the SIM card trays of the upcoming 'iPhone 8', which is also being tipped as the iPhone X.
The tweet shows the SIM card trays matching the Gold and Silver colours we saw in the hands-on video by a Youtuber, Danny Winget. The gold colour is being called as the "Blush" Gold while the other two colours are being mentioned as Silver and Black.
The new 'Copper' or the 'Blush' Gold colour could be the new entrant in the iPhone family. Apple has been revealing new colours for its iPhone almost every year. It introduced Gold with the iPhone 6 followed by Rose Gold, Matte Black and Jet Black.
When it comes to looks, the colours are not the only factors that will bring an element of freshness in the lineup. The iPhone 8 (or iPhone X) is heavily rumoured to sport an edge-to-edge OLED displays supplied by Samsung. Some other features rumoured are Face recognition, wireless charging, eye-scanner and a brand new OS. These features are likely to make the smartphone much pricier than before.
KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who's known for his track record on Apple, has issued a note to investors (obtained by the AppleInsider website) where he claims the OLED panel's price is the reason for the high cost of Apple's upcoming smartphones.
In the note, he says that the OLED panel by Samsung for iPhone X may cost anywhere between $120 to $130 per unit. This is a huge sum as compared to the $45 to $55 per unit price of LCD screen Apple used for iPhone 7 Plus.
Based on this, it might not be hard to imagine price of $999 or $1200 (512GB) that is being speculated for iPhone X or iPhone 8 models.
